Oaked & Smoked Gin
The third seasonal/limited release and probably our most experimental to date. This gin is the result of wanting to push the boundaries of what a Gin can be and to create a sipping Gin that holds its own in the colder months alongside a whiskey or a glass of red. Our Craft Gin was rested on heavily charred American oak for four months meaning the wood’s influence has given the distillate a slight amber tinge with a surprising depth of vanilla and sweet caramel. The smoky influence was introduced using a process of cold smoking ice with maple wood chunks to infuse the liquid as it melted. This Potent smoky nectar was then added to the gin during the proofing down process. The result is a striking gin with traditional nuance at the top while just underneath you get a kiss of sticky vanilla and to finish a faint smoky note lingers that is reminiscent of a woody campfire.
A vibrant aroma of floral citrus melding seamlessly with vanilla bean and Charred oak, with an enticing Smokey foundation.
Full-bodied with a slight tinge of spicy citrus leaning into a mildly sweet burnt vanilla, the smoky maple notes begin mid-palate becoming more prominent towards the finish on the back of the palate as you exhale.
Made to be swirled ,sniffed and sipped gently on the rocks.
But also, spectacular as part of your favourite cocktail.
Oaked & Smoked Old Fashioned:
- 60ml oaked & smoked gin
- 5ml maple syrup
- a teaspoon of water
- 2 dashes angostura bitters
- 3 dashes bitter orange bitters
- combine ingredients in a mixing glass and stir on ice for 20 rotations.
- Pour cocktail over ice in glass and serve.
- Garnish with a twist of orange
